Une symbolique prend forme dans ce tableau, une réflexion sur la dissociation de plus en plus grande entre les cultures humaines et l’environnement naturel, au point où celui-ci devient beaucoup plus un concept abstrait et idéalisé qu’une réalité tangible, d’où l'arrière-plan très stylisé du tableau.

Parce que nos contacts avec l’environnement non-urbain se font d’une façon extrêmement contrôlée et prévisible, l’image que nous nous faisons de cet arrière-plan “naturel” prends le pas sur sa réalité, d’où une certaine dissociation du sujet par rapport à ce qui l’entoure

A lot in this "Gathering" has to do with symbolism. It is about the ever increasing divide between human cultures and the natural environment, to the point where "Nature" has become an abstract concept rather than a tangible reality, hence the very stylised background of the painting.

All interaction with non-urban environments are now made in such a controlled and predictable manner, we create for ourselves an image of nature that has little to do with its reality.
