The kiss
Last year, Sister Anatolie was singing in Ste-Anne de Beaupré Basilica as a member of the Chorus. Suddenly, facing her, was a monk looking straight at her while singing in the same chorus. They glanced at each other once, twice, but the third time, their eyes remained fixed on each other. She subsequently, felt this music more divine than ever. This was the nicest midnight mass of her life. While singing, he was watching her smiling mildly, with his eyes fixed on her! She felt a great sensation invading her body. She suddenly felt some guilt and looked away. Was this love? However, if God had appeared to her disguised as a monk, she could rightfully look at him, thought she. When she looked at him, again, she noticed that he was still fixing her.

Then came the holy communion. When she reached the alter with the other sisters, she felt his presence right next to her. What a beautiful sensation! But she did not dare look at him. She then regained her place looking away, then searching for him, she realized that he had gone. However, looking for handkerchief in her robe pocket, she found a little note begging her to meet him June 20th at 4.12 P.M. on Couillard Street, under the big tree.

For the next six months, her mind was fixed on that particular date, while wondering if this was a rendez-vous. Why at her convent under this particular tree? Who could have slipped this message in her pocket?

The dream becomes reality Come june 20, she could not stay still and advised Mother Superior she was going out for a breath of fresh air and for some shopping. She was blushing quite a bit, Mother Superior asked her if she felt sick. "Not at all, she replied, I only feel a little hot" and she left. At 4.12 p.m., she leaned against the big tree and closed her eyes praying to see her God from St-Anne de Beaupré. Suddenly, somebody took her by the waist, turned her around against the wall, and kissed her with so much passion that she lost conscience. When she woke up, she was still leaning against the old tree but her lover had desappeared. Was she dreaming?

Mother Superior was very anxious to see Sister Anatolie rushing out like that. She opened the window but saw nothing, neither on the right, nor on the left. Mrs. Bellefeuille, wearing her green dress, was growling her daughter Odile because she had soiled her new dress while playing with Juliette's dog. Mr. and Mrs. Sansfaçon were arguing, while Mr and Mrs Tremblay were late and were hurrying. All these events happened so fast that nobody saw what had taken place.

But Miss Bellehumeur, the district's old bitch, always glued to her window, had actually seen Sister Anatolie at the street corner, but once under the tree, she desperatly could not see anything. But Nobody had really seen the monk or was sure that he ever existed, or if it really was God. I only saw the monk, this was June 20th at 4.12 p.m.
