Alfred Beaulé
1902 - 1990
Jean
Alfred Beaulé was born in Marbleton on July 5, 1902. He
is the ninth child and fourth son of Honoré Beaulé and
Euphémie Pâtry. It's at the one room schoolhouse,
at the end of row #4, that he learns to read and write. He spends
a total of five years on the school benches. Marie Boulet, who
will later become his sister in-law when she marries his oldest
brother, is his teacher for a few years.
Alfred works here and there in Marbleton and in the surrounding area. Work being
hard to find, he leaves for the United States to join up with a cousin, Émilien
Fisette. It's in November 1922 that he goes to live in Manchester (New Hampshire).
At first he works in a cotton mill. A few weeks later he is hired by the International
Shoe Co. where he learns the trade of "Die Maker",(he makes the knives
to cut the leather for shoes). In 1949 after International Shoe closes he is
hired by Manchester Die Co. where he works until his retirement in 1967.
It
is thanks to the Ladouceur family where he is living, that Alfred
goes to Nashua (N.H.) and is introduced to Yvonne Laquerre. They
will date for a year and a half before they marry at Infant Jesus
Parish on May 20, 1939.
Yvonne Laquerre was born on December 9, 1902 in Nashua. She is the daughter of
Joseph Laquerre and Clara Paradis. Until her marriage she works in the cotton
mills in Nashua.
Alfred and Yvonne had two children, André in 1942 and Clara in 1945.
Yvonne died April 28, 1985 after a long illness. Alfred died at Mount Carmel
Nursing Home on July 17, 1990. He is buried at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, in
Nashua, next to Yvonne and her family.
