Donna Summer fan since: 1975
How did you become a Donna Summer fan? I heard a
song on the local Commercial Radio, later I discovered it was the record that
the National Radio station BBC Radio One had banned. I had only heard a small
amount of the song and could not understand what was ''wrong'' with the song. A
few months later on a school trip to Köln , Germany, I saw and heard the single
Love to Love You Baby in a German record store. How I wish I had bought it then
. It was not common at that time for records in the UK to have picture sleeves,
and so when I went to my local record store to buy the UK GTO single, I was
disappointed that it was not in a picture cover. And from then I have been a
Donna Summer Fan.
His favorite Donna song? Oh that's so hard. Donna
sings so many good songs. She has a song for your every mood. I think Love's
About to Change My Heart. It has a lot of sentimental value for me. And the
Stock Aitken Waterman sound features a lot in my favourites.
Personal notes: After gaining a University Honours
Degree in Fine Art in 1983 I was to make a career in teaching, but after a few
Summer Schools I realised that wasn't for me. So a casual job in an office
turned into a full time job. My health began to fail in 1990's and eventually I
was medically retired in 1999. It was a small payment from that job that allowed
me to buy a laptop and spend some time making mixes. Some ideas are ok , others
I really like , but some don't really work. Still I mix for fun and if what I do
makes someone happy for a few moments that's the best thing I can hope for.
