The NfC is a strongly built cat. It is an Ancient breed of cat which oringinated in Norway. Some people believe the breed is over 2000 years old. The Weggie or Norsk Skaukatt (as it is called in Norway) is a direct descendent of the Fairy-Cats mentioned in Norse Mythology. It is a natural breed and has evolved from domesticated Wild Forest Cats. The NFC posses an air of enchantment with its beautiful coat & eyes. Their luxurious coat is easy to manage. The natural oils and self grooming keep their coats unmatted rich looking & soft. The coat is a semi-long that is covered by smooth water-repellent guard hairs. They loose all their wooly undercoat in summer, they are only left with a long bushy tail. In the winter they grow a beautiful lion mane and knickers. They are two cats in one! 

The properly proportioned NFC head gives the impression of an awake and aware cat. Even a somewhat Wild look. The head is shaped like an equilateral triangle. It is triangular seen from the front. From the side a long straight profile line, with a strong chin. The eyes are big, slightly oval and a little angularly placed. The ears are placed so that the outer edge follows a line from the chin past the cheeks to the ears. The ear tips usually have tufts Females are slightly smaller than males. Fully grown females range between 7 1/2 lbs. - 9 1/2 lbs. (3.8 - 4.8 kilos) Males range between 11 1/2 lbs. - 13 1/2 lbs. (5.8 - 6.8 kilos) The NFC is slow to mature, they do not reach full maturity & growth until approx. 5 yrs of age. Males and females should have a broad chest & solidly built body. The back legs are slightly higher than the front legs, with strong long toes. The NFC is one of few cats who climb down a tree headfirst. 

The NFC can be any color except pointed as in Siamese & Birman. Most popular are Tabby patterns with or without white. The NFC leaves you with the impression of a lively, elegant, alert & aware cat. The NFC gets along well with other animals and especially children. But he/she will most likely choose one owner and become very attached. The NFC will follow you everywhere. This person will become the NFC's partner. The NFC is not mean or unfriendly to other family members, but you will notice a preference to one family member. The NFC will do very well indoors. It is recommended you purchase a good scratch post. A nice high one would be ideal so they can get a good vantage point to watch what,s going on.
