WHY I RETIRED

I was 55 when the company I was working for, offered me to take an early retirement...

I am being nice to them presenting it this way, because they simply through me out after 20 years of services and 40 years of experience in my line... But I have to admit that my separation premium was almost decent...

But I also have to admit that when you are 55 years old, you are told that you are too old, (they don't tell it to you that way, because in Canada, it is anticonstitutionnal) so they tell you, that suddenly, you have become incompetent and that they have to let you go...

It is a shock...After 20 years in management for a company, you command a fairly good salary...

And when the time comes to rationalize, it is advantageous for a company to cut in middle management and big salaries...They replaced me at half my salary, but the same job description...

My replacement was only 30 years old...
