setroot.exe - Set the System Wallpaper Image

The setroot.exe application is a command line executable for the Windows 9x operating system environment that will set the user's wallpaper image. This application is useful within scripts, obviating the need to use the Control Panel application to change the display wallpaper.

Installation

Download the SETROOT.ZIP archive. Unpack it where setroot.exe it will be in your command search path.

Usage

The command line format is:

setroot filespec [-ini] [-update]

where filespec is the name of a file in WIndows .BMP format that contains the desired wallpaper image. The optional parameters -ini and -update suppress the sending of messages to all running applications informing them that the system initializatin file has changed and that the file is updated.
