In hardcover Académie internationale d'héraldique - Mémorial du Jubilé 1949-1999 and Armorial des Membres de l'Académie internationale d'héraldique 1949-1999, Bruxelles, 1999. or paperback, ISBN 2-87263-175-7.
As part of its recent Colloquium, at Sankt-Polten, the Académie internationale d'héraldique celebrated its 50th anniversary by issuing these two very handsome volumes. They include an account of the past half century, the various symbols used by the Académie, its rules and regulations, its past presidents, vice-presidents and other officers, the various prizes which the A.I.H. sponsors for heraldry, recent publications of various members, along with biographic notices of such distinguished armorists as Gaston Stalins, Paul Adam-Even, Léon Jéquier and many others too numerous to mention here.
This is a veritable "Who is Who" of heraldic scholarship in the 20th century. There is a complete list of current Académiciens and Associés, and the arms of all the armigers of the A.I.H. is included as an extra bonus. The very handsome armorial was accomplished by Marcel Lenertz of Stassen.
A warm Foreword by Dr. Jean-Claude Loutsch and the prodigous labour of M. Roger Harmignies in making all the information available make this a volume worthy of deeper consideration. This is a worthy memorial for the fiftieth anniversary and the editors responsible are to be thoroughly commended.
