Colombia's flag was adopted in 1861. It is divided into three segments, the blue and the red together have the same width as the yellow one. Yellow represents the land, blue represents the ocean, and red represents the blood spilled by patriots. These colours were flown by freedom fighters when Spain ruled South America.
La bandera está compuesta de 3 franjas horizontales. La primera es el doble de ancho y de color amarillo que significa la riqueza del suelo; la segunda, azul que simboliza los océanos y la tercera, el rojo que representa la sangre que derramaron los héroes de la independencia.
La bandera fue adoptada en 1861.
