How to help
It's easy to help Project Linus. Simply make a blanket and donate it to your local chapter of Project Linus or Project Linus National Headquarters. Your blanket will be given to a child in need. Our volunteers, known as "blanketeers" provide new, handmade, washable blankets to be given as gifts to seriously ill and traumatized children, ages 0-18. It is Project Linus' policy to accept blankets of all sizes, depending on the needs of the local chapters. All styles of blankets are welcome, including quilts, tied comforters, fleece blankets, crocheted or knitted afghans, and receiving blankets in child-friendly colors. To help you get started, check out these pattern page links. If you are interested in getting involved, contact your local chapter.
Special Event - "Alphabet Animals" Quilt Blocks
Project Linus UK will have a stand at the Festival of Quilts in August 2007.
They are inviting stitchers to make a six and a half inch block with an animal on it (any technique) OR a same sized square of animal patterned fabric with the corresponding letter on it. These will then be made up into quilts for children of all ages.
Wanted to share their idea and initiative with the volunteers of Project Linus Canada, they invite volunteer stitchers, that may be in touch with anybody going over to Birmingham in August to visit the Festival of Quilts, to bring blocks along. Volonteers may also send their blocks to them - so that readymade quilts can be on display on the stand.
Blocks can be sent to:
