In the Quebec - Orleans region, as well as in Charlevoix , Traditional crafts have been steadily gaining popularity during the past decade. The art of soapery is no exception to that general trend. A la Dauphinelle ( B&B ) has always thrived to offer authentic products to it's distinguished guests, like the homemade jams that are served at breakfast time. With that in mind, we decided to develop a high quality fine soap that is made on site with high quality natural ingredients. We put it in every bathroom. |

|
The choice of the name " LA PERVENCHE "
" Pervenche " is the french name of the " Perrywinkle ". The western tip of Orleans Island is covered with very old trees (mainly red oaks and maple ). The forest floors are very shady, a condition in which the perrywinkle ( vinca minor ) is comfortable and spreads abundantly. The whole territory of the Village of Sainte-Petronille , where the property is situated, is a sector where "Vinca Minor" has conquered a lot of territory.

The soap that is made at
the Gite A la Dauphinelle ( B&B )
is entirely handcrafted using only natural ingredients (no synthetic ingredient). |

Making soap is an activity that's been practiced for over 2000 years. Essentially soap is produced by the combination of a fat substance with a base. Our grandmothers used animal fat. At La Pervenche soapery, we prefer to use vegetable fats. |

The principal ingredients that we use in making our variety of soaps are combinations of vegetable oils extracted from olives, canola, soya, sunflower, palm and coconut. To enhance various properties, we add ingredients like cocoa butter, karite butter, sesame or wheatgerm oil, jojoba, beeswax and many others. To obtain more specific properties, we can also add essential oils or other ingredients that come from plants like , for example, ground coffee beans, green tea or mint leaves, ground loofah or linseeds. |
