Once again, as promised, here is a review of one of Playboy's computer programs.

I rate each program on a scale of 1-5 (1 being the lowest) based on three categories:

• Quality - overall quality of the program
• Action/Interaction - user performance and movement in program. How animated is it? Do you do a lot of mouse or keyboard clicking?
• Erotic Appeal - How erotically stimulating is it? Does it leave you wanting more?

Key for Erotic Appeal:

• No Nudity - no nudity at all.
• Partial Nudity - Often bare breast. Sometimes bare ass.
• Side Nudity - Naked, but only being able to see from the side.
• Nudity - Full-frontal Nudity.
• Adult - Non-explicit sexual activity (by one or more parties).
• Explicit - Explicit sexual activity (by one or more parties).

And now with no further ado...

Playboy's Babes of Baywatch Collector's Edition CD-ROM (Playboy Enterprises, Inc., $19.95)

The same people that created the Playmate Portfolios on Pamela Anderson Lee and Jenny McCarthy are back with a CD-ROM based on the Playboy video "Playboy's Babes of Baywatch." Playboy apparently wanted to highlight their connection to the syndicated series "Baywatch" at all fronts - in their magazine, on the video shelves, on adult-only Playboy TV, and on the computer. At roughly the same time the magazine hit the stores, Playboy TV broadcast their debut of the video, and both the video and the CD-ROM hit the stores.

Although at first glance, the interface and general overview of the program appear to be identical to their earlier versions, the appearances are cosmetic. In the Jenny McCarthy Playmate Portfolio, the whole interface was done through windows. In the Babes of Baywatch, this is done through click-able pictures, much like a web page or a multimedia presentation. This means the transition from page to page is slightly slower, as well as it focuses the entire attention of the user on the program.

Make no mistake, this program is Playboy's video turned multimedia, complete with a special behind-the-scenes video clip of the making of both the video and Baywatch actress Traci Bingham's photo shoot in Jamaica. The rest of the video clips come straight from the videocassette, which in every scene except for Traci's were recycled from various other videos such as "Playboy's Rising Stars and Sexy Starlets," and the video centerfolds of the playmates featured in the program, including those for Pamela Anderson and Jenny McCarthy.

Just like the Playmate Portfolios, this program also contains an impressive collection of still images. But unlike its predecessors, this program lacks the substantive information for each image that I appreciated, including the photographer, and whether or not the image was published. One of the appeals of the Playmate Portfolio programs was that there were never-before published pictures available of the playmates. Subscribers to the Playboy Cyber Club, however, should easily identify many of the images of Playboy and Baywatch stars such as Donna D'Errico, Kelly Monaco, Marliece Andreada, Heidi Mark, Lisa Marie Scott, Erika Eleniak, and Shannon Tweed.

If you're looking for original material, you won't find it in this program. What you will find, on the other hand, is a nicely done salute to the real appeal to Baywatch - namely the women who fill out those swimsuits.
