(Note: The following review is for a non-Playboy product, but since it involves a playmate, I have been informed by Peggy that it does fall within the scope of the PML.)
(Note#2: The review makes reference of another game called Cyberstrip Poker by Rapture.. which got a lame review from me.)
(Note#3: All my reviews are judged on three categories: quality, action/interaction, and erotic appeal. Each rating is on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the best.)
(Note#4: I am planning on putting up a web page for all of my CD-ROM reviews in the near future. However, I will still provide reviews of Playboy and Playboy-related programs to the PML.)
(Note#5: Enough notes, let's get to the review.)
Pandora's Poker Palace (Atlantean Interactive, $19.95)
Atlantean Interactive has been doing interactive adventure programs, but this is their first entry into more adult programs.
The program starts with a certain level of class - with veteran actress and 1960's Playboy Playmate Stella Stevens playing hostess Pandora, welcoming you into the palace and giving you 2000 "luskins" (virtual dollars). After deciding if you need a quick tour of the palace, you can choose between one of five rooms. The center room is called "Wild Card Lounge" where you can play one-on-one with Pandora's girls. There are nine girls in all, with different personalities ranging from a housewife to a cop to a scientist. When you win each hand, not only do you win the pot, but the girl has to remove an article of clothing. (Fortunately when you lose a hand the girl remains in her current state of dress/undress.) The other four rooms - each named for the four card suits -offer two-on-one competition between you and two of Pandora's beauties. The winning pot doubles, but so do your losses if you're not lucky.
There are variations of the game you can play, ranging from 5 or 7-card stud to 5 card draw, and from straight game to low-ball to wild card. You can limit those variations, such as playing only wild card games, or strictly classic 5-card draw. You can also save your total amounts when you leave and load them back when you return to the game (or if you hit a streak of bad luck).
The graphics are good, the ladies are beautiful, and the action is constant. Even the character banter is tolerable. And even though the ladies only go as far as topless, it is STILL leaps and bounds above Rapture's Cyberstrip Poker.
