Here's my review of the strip poker games produced by Slickrock Software. A copy of this review will also be sent to Slickrock Software. I'll post this review in Digital Dreams Reviews over the weekend.

Haven't played a good strip poker game in a while.. bit refreshing. Now if only I could play one with a LIVE Playmate. ;)

Digital Strip Poker Featuring Carrie Stevens (Slickrock Software)

When I first heard of a company doing digital strip poker games that featured Playboy Playmates, my first question was why didn't Playboy think of this first? After all, a digital strip poker game would appeal to the three elements of a good Playboy project - games of chance, cutting edge technology, and the Playboy Playmates.

But Slickrock Software managed to pick up the idea that Playboy overlooked, and did so quite well with their Digital Strip Poker series. When I visited their web site, I saw they already had games that featured 10 Playmates and two Playboy models, although they had a few more ladies listed in their online store. They also have a "combo" series where you play against three Playmates. I choose the "signature" program that featured Playmate Carrie Stevens because she is one of my favorite Playmates.

The program is straight poker. No wild cards. You pick from three options what clothing Carrie will wear for the game. Both Carrie and the player (who is also represented in the game) wear three articles of clothing, each worth $100. You both also start the game with $100. Once you deplete your money, you sell an article of clothing for $100. You buy back your clothes when you have at least $100. Once you run out of clothes and money, the game is over. You can bet in increments of $5, from $5 to $25, and you are each allowed to raise a bet twice.

Of course, the appeal of the game is in watching Carrie take off her clothes, although watching her put those clothes back on is also quite pleasing. And the game is just fast-paced enough to ensure that somebody is going to be without clothes soon.

Carrie is seen in full motion digital video and sound. The quality of both are exemplary. The program is self-starting, and there is no software to install beforehand. The program runs on the Windows 95/98 operating system, although a Macintosh version is expected out soon.

Unfortunately, there are a few drawbacks in the program. Despite Carrie's offer of a rematch after she has beaten you out of your skivvies, there is no way to restart a game, or to go back to the starting menu when the game is over. You have to shut down the game and then restart it in order to try your luck again. Also, unless you already know which kind of hands beat what in the game, there is no help program available. This is important if you are not an experienced poker player and don't know how you could lose out to a baby flush or an inside straight. Certainly the people at Slickrock could at least list that on their website.

In all, however, the plusses of this program outweigh the few minuses. It is an exceptional program for anyone who is a fan of Playmates, or just someone who likes quality games for adults.
