8 ¹ Immanentize means to make immanent, inherent, to internalize. I have immanentized what I am talking about, this is why I write about it. I have understood it and I have made it an integral, an inherent part of my “reality”. ² Just like I have immanentize the fact that I am a man. ³ I know this beyond mere intellectual knowledge, this knowledge is essential in my self-definition. I feel I could not be me if I was not male. I may be wrong but in my own reality tunnel, I have immanentized this earthly condition. ⁴ If you understand the meaning of what I am saying, this does not mean you have immentized it. 
⁵ What is immanentized is what defines oneself. I did not have to do anything to be a male. I am. ⁶ Some people were not born “males” but imminentized this immanentized understanding by undergoing surgery. For these people, the immanentization of being male was not directly linked to its imminentization. They felt immanently male even though they had the body of a female. The opposite of immanentize is to transcend.

9 ¹ The opposite of immanentize is to transcend. Immanentize refers to an internal state whereas transcend referes to an exterior state. ² I can immanentize my sex as male. But can I transcend this “label”. I can realise that if I had been exposed to different hormones in my mom’s belly I might have been born with the sex female. If so, what would have been my immanentization of my sexual identity? Would I have been me, convinced I am a male, a self-defined immanentized male locked in a female’s body? Would I then have tried to imminentize my immanentized gender of male? Or would I have been as convinced I am a female under these conditions as I am convinced I am a male now? ³ The good thing would have been that I would have known how it feels to have your breast fondled. But then, as a man, isn’t it enjoyable when my girlfriend fondles my nipples … No! No! No! No! What do you think? I am a man! A real man! A man’s man! ... out of line! Back on topic.

10 ¹ Sex defined as male and female is the imminentization of the immanent self-defining characteristic which is gender and which can be expressed as either man and woman. But if one does not immanentize gender but rather decides to transcend self-definition, what does one obtain? Isn’t Playboy magazine now mostly run by women? Hum! Not sure that is relevant.

11 ¹ I am not you. ² We are not them.³ But who the hell are they? What is “they” made out of if not of you and me? Is there anybody  anybody out there? Am I surrounded by cabbages or by other human beings. How is it that in such big cities with so many people around us we still end up wandering all alone? ⁴ Dying of thirst in the middle of the ocean because the water has been made “toxic” by the salt. What is this “salt” that makes humans toxic to one another in some circumstances?
 

13 ¹ Has everybody move on to become social animals? ² Should disaster and the current empire fall, like all empires fall, and we are sent back to a “hunters & gatherers” society? Who will prevai?: Bill Gates or Muhammed Ali? Wall Street stockbrokers or the janitor? Your mechanic or your accountant? The quarter back or the lines men? ³ Which immanentization of your self-identity would fly out the window? Which one of your most dearly held values would remain in a survival situation?

14 ¹ Is civilisation enabling us to uphold higher values? ² Or just blinding us to our entrenched nature?

15 ¹ Armies are always made up of less individuals than the civil population.

16 ¹ Does civilisation make us free? ² To what extent is civilisation and the society we build for ourselves an artificial environment? 
³ What control do we have over the laws that dictate our lives? ⁴ In my whole life, I have never won an election, I have never once voted along with the majority. Not once. To what extent is this democracy representing my interests?

17 ¹ How much of your freedom are your willing to give away to be able to say live free or die the patriot act way?
