FINAL PROJECT: THE ALUMINUM TOWER Architecture: Etienne
Coutu This project was the synthesis of my curriculum in architecture. Based on a multi-axial aluminum node, the goal of this study was to explore new geometrical possibilities that could offer this material into the field of architecture. As a follow up, in the persperctive that the Alcan aluminum multinational would use this system for building her new Montréal headquarters, the transparency of the exterior skin was developped as to fully expose the aluminum structure to the outside, using perforated glass panels and spider shaped aluminum joints. The result is a 240 meters high 48 floors tower with central stairs and elevators concrete core, generous park-like spaces hooked in the heights overlooking the city, topped with a restaurant and observatory. |

PROJET FINAL: LA TOUR D'ALUMINIUM Architecture:
Etienne Coutu Ce projet fait la synthèse de mon cheminement théorique. Basé sur un noeud quincaxial en aluminium, le but de cette étude était d'explorer les possibilités géométriques nouvelles que ce matériau offre dans le domaine de l'architecture Dans un scénario où la multinationale de l'aluminium Alcan utiliserait ce système dans la construction d'un nouveau siège sociale montréalais, la transparence de l'enveloppe a été développée pour exposer à l'extérieur cette structure d'aluminium en utilisant des panneaux de verre perforés liés de joints d'aluminium en forme d'araignée. Le résultat est une tour de 240m de haut, 48 étages, escaliers et ascenseurs centrés en un coeur de béton, des jardins suspendus généreux dominant la ville, avec restaurant et observatoire au sommet. |
