ERP Equation

The hardware side of the implementation equation is commonly overlooked. The relative qualities of ERP vendors, products, modules, or configurations will not make a difference if your hardware is not properly configured. It must be able to handle all the applications and opportunities offered within the software package. Most companies use two implementers. Regardless of the temptation to choose only one, may people have no understanding of the software implementation. Those people probably should not be the same people who perform the hardware installation even if you are using in-house systems administrators or decide upon outsource to systems integrators and consultants, (even a combination).

The particular separation of ERP talents (hardware from software) typically remains imperative even after you install your initial ERP application. Do be on the safe side, avoid trying to get ERP hardware and software expertise from the same team of IT professionals when you are upgrading an existing implementation or migrating from one vendor's product to another.
