Oh, and if you're really curious, Guy Isabel lives in Montréal, (Québec), Canada, and proudly describes himself as a perpetual amateur magician after four decades of dabbling in magic.
He comes from a scientific background, being an engineer and physicist, yet is currently employed at McGill University as an enterprise-wide Oracle® Database Analyst, whatever this may mean. He tries to convey basic science to unsuspecting audiences using mostly card effects. He is also given to lengthy disquisitions about the philosophy of science and magic — though he is hardly qualified to do so. Alas, this does not stop him from doing it.
Against all odds, for two years, he was also Assistant Editor for Visions, The Online Journal of the Art of Magic.
His other interests encompass Zen Buddhism (he is an atheist lay monk, Sōtō school), Japanese and Okinawan martial arts, and the electric guitar. As regards martial arts, he holds a black belt in both karate and aikidō, as well as other belts of rather garish colours in judō, jujitsu, kobudō and iaidō. In retrospect, it would have been much easier for him to procure his belts at a department store. Concerning the guitar, he is forever indebted to two mentors: Jamie Andreas and David Hodge whose pedagogical skills are unsurpassed.
Guy's interests comprise just about everything that has nothing to do with accounting nor knitting.
He was born on March 19, 1957, that year not being a prime number, much to his chagrin. He also published several peer-reviewed, refereed papers in academic journals about electronics engineering, electrophysiology, and pharmacology — although no sane person should actually care.
For what it's worth, a copy of his curriculum vitæ is available by clicking here.
