4th Period - Coronation, Royal Visits and Royal Events

The first visit to Canada of Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip in 1951 and the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 marks the beginning of the fourth period in the creation of Royal commemoratives bearing Canadian arms and symbols.

Royal Staffordshire Ceramics, Burslem, plate designed by Clarice Cliff for the "Confederation Series Canada" to celebrate the Coronation of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II on June 2nd 1953, displaying the photo of her Majesty taken by Karsh as well as the Royal Arms and provincial arms of Canada, dated 1967. Gray plate celebrating the Coronation of H.M.  the Queen in June 1953, bearing in the centre the full arms of the Dominion of Canada between the shields of  Canada, England, Scotland and Wales. Mercian China, England, plate designed by A. Kitson Towler and  comissioned by the Monarchist League of Canada to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II and the Silver Jubilee Visit of Her Majesty to Canada in October 1977, featuring the portrait of H.M. the Queen and four Canadian  governors general: Vincent Massey (1952-1959); General Georges-P. Vanier (1959-1967); Roland Michener (1967-1974) and Jules Léger (1974-1979). The plate bears the 1957 arms of Canada, and the snowflake insignia of the Order of Canada created in 1967 (No. 90 of 500).
