In addition
to fantastic golf, Scottsdale has a great variety of restaurants. Here are
just a few that we have tried.
Sassi
Once a simple farmhouse, Sassi now has the feel of
an authentic Southern Italian villa, sweeping you into an Italian
paradise the moment you set foot within its arches.
Sassi's cuisine is inspired by traditional dishes and ingredients found
in small trattorias from Cosenza to Catania, while the restaurant's
ambience conveys a sense of relaxation that is an institution of Italian
dining. Under the expert direction of Chef Wade Moises, Sassi's menu
features numerous handmade pastas, local organic and seasonal
vegetables, rustic homemade breads, a variety of fresh wild fish,
Colorado lamb and Neiman Ranch pork cooked true to the spirit of
southern Italy. The kitchen crafts a full flavored style of cuisine that
is mindful of the heart and respectful of the traditions of Campagnia,
Sicily, Basilicata and Puglia.
PS: A 10 minute walk from The Rocks, Sassi offers
an authentic Italian dining experience in beautiful surroundings. Highly
recommend!
Sapporo
Definitely one of the best “people watching” places
in town! With two huge fire-breathing towers on either side of the
entrance.
The
Good Egg
Various locations in the Scottsdale area
If you come from Montreal, think of Chez Cora
without all of the fruit or maybe Eggspectations. A reliable breakfast
chain, providing the usual breakfast fare.
Stingray
Sushi
Make sure you have reservations because this
restaurant isn’t terribly big. If you want good sushi, this is
definitely one of the best places in town. They serve up all of the
traditional dishes plus some Latin-influenced fare.
Sol
y Sombra
Drawing inspiration from the distinct regional
identity of Catalonia, and the vibrant energy of Barcelona’s dynamic
lifestyle, chef Aaron May creates contemporary Spanish food in tapas-style
portions. A great lounge-like, relaxing atmosphere that provides a nice
way to end a day, sangria or vino rioja in hand.
Deseo
Showcasing imaginative Latin-influenced
cuisine—think ceviches, empanadas, and grilled meats with chimichurri
sauces to name just a few—Deseo’s menu features a distinctive and
skillfully blended combination of flavors to create dishes that are bold
and intriguing. The innovation continues at
Deseo’s Muddle Bar, where exotic cocktails are created by smashing
together the freshest fruits and herbs with a wooden mallet called a
“muddle” to release their intense flavors. The ceviches were fantastic,
albeit portions are somewhat small and make sure you don’t miss the
cheese bread! Housed within the Westin Kierland, this is not your
typical “hotel restaurant”.
Cowboy
Ciao
A rather eclectic-designed, small restaurant, the
menu features staples found in most restaurants. While the food is not
outstanding, you wine lovers will be astonished by their more than 3,000
selection from over 40 countries! The wine list is somewhat daunting, to
say the least, but certainly filled with many interesting choices.
Wildfish
Part of the Eddie V empire, Wildfish serves only
the very best prime seafood and steaks. Seafood comes from the “top of
the catch” right off the docks featuring oysters shucked to order from
the oyster bar and Foley seafood prepared to your liking. For steak
lovers, USDA prime, center-cut steaks are broiled to perfection. The
sashimi platter is outstanding as are the tuna, calamari and other
varied seafood choices. Highly recommend!
Food
Bar
A European-style eat-and-go place that offers fresh food for
breakfast, lunch and dinner. Grab-and-go salads, soups, sandwiches, and
daily specials allow you to choose from a variety of pre-made
selections, or meals can be swiftly packed to go. Rounding out the
options are selections from the COFFEE BAR, imported chocolates, as well
as fine wines and beer, to be enjoyed inside or out on the extensive
alfresco patio. A good choice for breakfast (great latté, cappuccino and
multi-grain bread)!
Breakfast
Club
Serving breakfast
and lunch. Not yet rated.
Eddie V's
For
the freshest seafood, steak, and rhythm the buzz in town is Eddie V's
Edgewater Grille at DC Ranch. The menu features lots of Gulf Coast
seafood and prime steaks and chops. Located at the base of the McDowell
Mountains, Eddie V's atmosphere is a fantastic high energy dining
experience. Visit their fabulous V Lounge where you can enjoy live music
and happy hour seven nights a week. Savor classic seafood starters like
oysters on the half shell and famous All Lump Crab Cakes. Their wine
list features over 150 selections
