El Mariachi Guanajuato de Manuel Figueroa. Manuel Figueroa came to Montreal in 1973 with his father Don José Figueroa, most part of his life he has been working with him. The group used to be called Los Viajeros. In the year 1984 the group was called El Mariachi Figueroa and until now is still calling the same. Mr. Manuel Figueroa started to travel since he was very young. His first trip was to Italy in 1979. His father sent him in his place for 22 days tour. He went and toured around the Quebec’s province, then Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, Toronto and Ottawa before he went to the USA. He toured in Chicago, Atlanta, St. Louis, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Atlantic City, Cincinnati, North and south Carolina, Alabama, Memphis, St. Antonio Texas, Dallas, Houston, Wisconsin, Florida Vermont, Los Angeles and last Puerto Rico. |

In June 2007, he makes career on his own by funding the group El Mariachi Guanajuato de Manul Figueroa. Before, he worked with his family for 34 years. Manuel and El Mariachi Figueroa travelled and toured in several countries: Australia, New Zeeland, London, Italy, Dubai and all around USA. |

THREE GENERATIONS OF MARIACHIS IN CANADA. 1967: Terre des homes, International EXPO67 in Montreal, Notre Dame Island and St Helene Island, where there were many pavilions from many countries including Mexico. Inside the pavilion, showing handcrafts, souvenirs representing the daily and everyday life from Mexicans and their music, performing THE MARICHIS.
One MARIACHI: Don José Figueroa. Since 1967 Mr. Figueroa lives in Montreal ans has founded the band MARICAHI FIGUEROA. In 1973 two of his sons and one son in-law came over to join him and play the role of mexican music ambassadors. In 1984 two other sons came to Montreal. In 1995 two of Don José grand sons join the band, establishing a real dynasty ! Three generations of Figueroa family playing together !
El Mariachi Guanajuato de Manuel Figueroa performs in enormous number of big important events in Quebec and Ontario. Whether they are touristic, cultutal or social. The band is ready to party for the national mexican party celebrated for the mexican in Montreal. |
