lodging Maclellan
Inn (Doyles, Codroy Valley,
Newfoundland)
I arrived at the Maclellan
Inn just after 11pm on a rainy and windy
night. What I found was instantly
soothing. A spacious and very nice
comfortable room, with well-appointed
bathroom.
During my two day stay, I
came to realize how perfect the
surroundings were and how conducive they
were to disconnecting from daily stress.
Lingering with a cup of breakfast tea on
the rear balcony while gazing on
mountains and water was a great way to
start the day.
Similarly, after a full
day of touring and visiting, I found that
unwinding and listening to music in the
comfortable living room area while
looking out through panoramic windows was
also very soothing. Very much in keeping
with the essence of a vacation, that is,
to allow to disconnect from daily stress
and pressures.
In the basement, I found a
quiet and comfortable den. There is a
computer with internet hook-up available
for the asking. In addition, there is an
adjacent room that offers plenty of space
to allow looking after travel gear etc.
The Maclellan Inn is
ideally situated, overlooking the banks
of the Grand Codroy River. This makes it
ideal for activities including hiking,
canoeing, and kayaking.
I found my stay there to
be quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. Very
similar to my experience of the Codroy
Valley.
Summary: A nice place to
unwind for a spell.
