The Halflinger Breed

The Halflinger originates from the Tyrol mountains in Austria. The stallions and the mares born in Austria, by tradition, are marked with an H inscribed within an edelweiss; Austria national flower.

The main characteristic of its appearance is the abundance of its practically white mane and tail. The Halflinger is of chestnut color with varying shades. At maturity it can reach 14 to 15 hands and weigh from 800 to 1300 pounds. It has a long lifespan and can live up to 40 years.

The Halflinger is courageous, agile, energetic, mild tempered, docile and easily trained. It is a very versatile horse: It can excel in dressage, trick riding, jumping, driving and all work activities on the farm.
