Rebuilding Austin Healy Sprite Engine No 9C-U-H 619
Flywheel and clutch

These are quite staightforward

First the flywheel is bolted and torqued down:

Then the pressure plate. The clutch disk held against the flywheel and the pressure plate is bolted down over it. The only little twist here is the need to line up the clutch correctly to ensure that the first motion shaft on the gear box can go in. I used a spare shaft for this. Any wood, plastic or metal dowel that is approximately the right size will work. In the past, I have also been able to do this simply by eyeballing the parts.

Martin, from Washington (city or state ?), and from the MG Club bulletin board, noted that this is a 9 spring racing pressure plate, which is something I was unaware of.  I did note that the clutch was pretty stiff when I first drove the car, and I do have a 6 spring pressure plate, so I may do a swap when the engine comes out.

The engine is now baiscally done. There are a few thing I did not cover, such as the starter, the generator, adjusting the carbs and the ignition as well as the oil pressure sender other small things. I'll try to include them in new chapters !

And now a few parting shots
