Living a life that goes against the current of consumer society is not always easy. Yet a growing number of Montrealers are finding that simple living can provide them with the things money can't buy: fulfillment, passion, and joy. What are its challenges and its rewards? We'll hear from those who have already simplified and from those who seek more information on how to start.

Remember life before cell phones, pagers, blackberrys, e-mail, voice mail and the Internet? Some would prefer a return to those quiet days, while others wonder how they ever managed to live without them.  We'll explore the pros and the cons of technology and whether it simplifies or complicates our lives.

Venezuela is in the throes of the Bolivarian Revolution. What was its impact on the World Social Forum? What are the implications for Montreal, Canada, and the world?
With Catherine Binette - Project Officer for Mobilization at Alternatives, and Caterina Milani - International Program Coordinator at the YMCA. The presentation of these eyewitness reports will be followed by an extensive discussion period and will be presented in French and English with no translation. Voluntary donation appreciated.

Water is becoming just another commodity to be traded and sold. Pressures within Quebec to privatize municipal water services and treat water resources as an export commodity are increasing. Multinational companies are now vying for control of Quebec's water resources. Come join the conversation.

Sunday, May 7 Mount Royal cleanup
Location: on the mountain summit
It’s a spring tradition. Join us and hundreds of other volunteers as we rid the park of the debris that accumulated during the winter, cleaning up a 2 km portion of wooded area. The mountain is in its 130th year as an urban park, and that's a cause for celebration. Come help restore the mountain to its natural beauty . The city is providing the equipment.
