This city is located in the middle of the Andies at 3,310 meters above sea level. It was the ancient capital of Peru; the capital of the Inca empire. It's also the doorstep to go to Machu Picchu. It is from Cuzco that we take the train to Machu Picchu. The surrounding cities are Pisac the beginning of the sacred valley , Ollantaytambo, Sacsayhuaman, Tambomachay and finally Agua Calientes, the nearest city of the Machu Picchu site. It's very important to rest when you arrive in Cuzco because of lack of oxygen. It is recommended to take coca teaoffered at the hotel. It helps to stabilize the organism. Nevertheless, after a good rest, you must visit Cuzco by walking in the streets. It's worth it.
View of the Plaza de Armas and the street of Cuzco
Cuzco is a very nice city. It seduced us by its location in the middle of the Andies. We've bumped into a lot of Peruvians' craft sellers in the Plaza de Armas
