HOW DOES ONE MEASURE THE SUPERIORITY OF A LUMINAIRE IF NOT BY ITS LONG-TERM PERFORMANCE AND ECONOMICAL FEATURES? To date, no luminaire, with or without filtering system, has succeeded in protecting the optical block, i.e. the inner wall of the reflector and its lens, from particles, dirt and polluting agents introduced by the unhindered flow of air. These elements contribute to the absorption and gradual diffusion of the lamp's luminous flux to such an extent that, in order to maintain acceptable lighting levels during their life span, conventional systems require the use of more powerful lamps along with costly regular maintenance. This system, on the other hand, virtually eliminates the flow of air within the optical chamber, thereby minimizing the loss of efficiency generated by normal dirt contami-nation of the components, as well as the permanent deterioration caused by the introduction of polluting agents. Combined with ENERTECK SOLAR TECHNOLOGY the use of this system can produce free lighting, while considerably reducing the need for maintenance of the optical chamber. Even hermetically sealed, the system does not lead to overheating since its reflector has been designed to redirect the luminous flux around the lamp and arc tube without increasing the tension of the arc tube.
