I second your suggestion for using the step and mode settings stored with scan edge pairs as well as the suggestion for scan edge pair linking (like in the AOR AR8x00 receivers)

Default the bank selection (when starting a bank scan by holding the MODE/SCAN button) to the currently viewed bank in MR display mode, unless BANK-LINK or ALL was previously selected, in which case the bank scan mode remains the same.

Display the text label for the scan edge pairs when scrolling through to select and when scanning (in a fashion similar to displaying the bank label when scanning a memory bank)
