"Though your needs differ from mine, we can succeed by working together."
"Wait long enough, and people will surprise and impress you."(Randy Pauch)
"Writers are important contributors to society; we tell the stories that change the world."
I am a sister, daughter, mother, wife, grand-daughter, cousin, niece, aunt, friend, neighbour and colleague. I'm also a writer, journalist, author, historian, consultant, self-employed businessperson, citizen, resident, member, parishioner, director, partner and customer. I'm a Canadian who was born in Ontario and now lives in Quebec. I am also a humanitarian, socialist, naturalist, idealist, believer, ecologist, gardener, cyclist, swimmer, hiker, canoeist, cross-country skier and snowshoer.
These lists could go on, but clearly, I define myself in many different ways depending on circumstances, affiliations and philosophy. I'm trying to explore all those competing identities with this website.
Most of this exploration, however, is taking place through my identity as a non-fiction writer. In that task, my aim is to write inspirational stories that encourage readers to act in favour of a private or public good.
Yet I also understand that such a lofty goal requires mutual respect and trust, something that must be earned, not assumed. To help encourage that trust, I make the following pledges:
Whether you're a employer, potential partner, or someone who reads my work, I hope you'll find whatever information you may need or want through this site. Please look around. I've included lots of links to partners for anyone who wants to order articles or books. If you plan to hire me, my hourly rate is $75, unless you contact me for rush work that must be started within two weeks, when the rate goes up to $100.
Thanks for your time. If you have questions or commments, please feel free to send them along.
