DEMOGRAPHICS
Half the permanent residents of Old Montréal are less than 45 years old. The neighbourhood benefits from greater education, income and employment levels than those of the city of Montréal:
• average income is in excess of 60 000 dollars, nearly double that of the city of Montréal and of the Ville-Marie borought;
• 60% of the population over 20 of age has studied at university, versus 23% for the city of Montréal and 34% for the Ville-Marie borough;
• unemployment is less than 6%;

Old Montréal has 50% of owner residents; the proportion of rental housing is therefore substantially lower the average for the city of Montréal.
